The
most recent hole in one was on the 2008 South American Tour on
February 22nd at Marbella in Chile when Pauline Stock performed the
feat. Her husband, Andrew, and his playing partners called up the
ladies on the par 3. They then had the pleasure of watching
the well struck shot hit the green, take a borrow of at least
10 feet and drop neatly in the centre of the hole.
Unfortunately no
cameras were to hand to record this but there is a fine picture below
of Pauline receiving the congratulations of the Captain of the Guard at
the Presidential Palace when we returned to Santiago.
The previous hole in One was at the Society Meeting (23rd
August) at Luffenham Heath. It was on the 17th hole, a
long
downhill par 3 measuring 176 yards off the Ladies tee. The
lucky, or more correctly, skilful lady was Johanna Somers from
Alwoodley seen below
with her special
prize. Jackie
Hesketh,
the Society's efficient and hardworking
Secretary is congratulating her on her success. One nice feature of the
17th is that you can actually see the ball go into the hole.
One interesting fact to remember, if you ever get a hole-in-one in a
U.K. meeting , is
that the Society stand the round of drinks!
