Gog Magog Report and Results - 20th-21st June 2022

Fortunately the strong winds encountered throughout the May meeting in Cumbria were not present during our June event at Gog Magog GC, near Cambridge. Warm sunshine greeted the 59 participants who were competing for the Sir Aynsley Bridgland trophies which due to the pandemic had not been won since 2019.

The Gog Magog courses are laid out over chalky downland turf but are very different in character. The Old course is regarded as the more traditional layout with the Wandlebury being a modern American style design. Both courses, although running fast, were in good shape and complement each other very well.

In the evening we were joined by club captain Mr John Cross who gratefully accepted the society donation of £600 to the club’s junior section from GSGB Chairman Mr Giles Hinchcliffe.

The Founders Trophy for men was won by John Fulton from Woburn with 70 points narrowly defeating Nigel Hodges from Astbury by 2 points. The ladies Founders Trophy was won by Sue Devine from Brickendon Grange with 75 points beating Yogi Jackson, also with 75 points, into second place with a better day 2 score.

A full list of all prize winners can be seen below.

The next event will be the AGM meeting at Ramside Hall on July 19th/20th.
