Tewkesbury Park Report and Results September 20th 2022
Our September meeting was reduced to a one day event due to the first day at Cirencester clashing with the Queen’s State Funeral. This inevitably led to a reduced field as many had large distances to travel. Despite the late disruption we still had 31 members attend which was very good under the circumstances.
Tewkesbury Park would never be considered as one of the better courses visited by the society but there are a number of interesting holes and the greens, whilst not particularly fast, were perfectly true to putt on. The hotel is particularly good.
The weather conditions were perfect for golf and there was still plenty of run on the ball despite some rainfall during the previous week. This led to some very good scores.
The Knight Super Seniors Salvers were won by Bill Nickson from Northamptonshire County with 44 points and Pauline Cameron from East Berkshire with 39 points.
The Barlow Seniors Trophies were won by Robert Hill from Bath with 40 points and Shirley Singh from Gog Magog with 42 points. Second and third places for the Men were won by Shyam Singh and Dudley Carvell both with 37 points. This was a popular score with Jim Hunter and Steve Coventry just missing out on a back 6 card decider. In the Ladies competition, second place went to Liz Eady with 39 points and third place to Linda Hill with 38 points.
The long awaited tour to Bordeaux and Biarritz will round off the year later in the month but Tewkesbury Park concluded the GSGB meetings for 2022.
Our next meeting will take place at Royal St David’s and Aberdovey on May 22nd/23rd 2023.
Thanks to all of those who have supported our events during the year and we look forward to seeing you all again in 2023.
