Tour Report - First Tour to Costa Navarino, October 2026
It is six years since the Society last ran a tour to the Costa Navarino resort in South Western Greece.
In the intervening years it has added two more golf courses to the original two and it has consistently gained industry awards and glowing reports from its many visitors.
Anticipation was therefore high amongst the thirty-five of us who made up the touring group and stayed at the exceptionally comfortable Westin Hotel during the first week of October (and the first of two weeks of tours organised by the Society).
All four golf courses, the Dunes course, which is next to the hotel, the Bay course which has lovely sea views and the two newer ones – the Hills and the International Olympic Academy Course with its spectacular panorama views, were in wonderful condition and provided different and interesting challenges.
Evenings were spent in the variety of restaurants on site or those in the local sea front towns of Gialova and Pylos.
The welcome and closing meals helped to build the camaraderie which is a notable feature of GSGB trips and the whole tour was a fitting end to the Society’s 2026 golfing calendar.
The ‘champion golfers’ of the week were, for the men, Terry Jones, and for the ladies, jointly, Vanessa Adams and Delyse Wadkin. Prizes for the week were appropriately modest and, of course, everyone was a winner.
With good weather, good golf and, most importantly, good company, everyone enjoyed a wonderful week together.
