Chairman's Spring Report March 2023
With a bit of luck we are over the really cold weather. Here in Bath the daffodils have been out for a while and we are just starting to see some blossom on the trees. So dust off the clubs and oil the joints. I hope you are all well and looking forward to the new season.
We’ve got some mouth-watering meetings to look forward to this year…….
Royal St David’s and Aberdovey in May
Goswick and Dunstanburgh Castle in June
Dale Hill for the AGM in July
Blackmoor and North Hants. in August, and
Cavendish and Prestbury in September.
What’s especially appealing is that most of them are new to us.
There are still a few places, so please contact Brian if you are not signed up yet.
The tours to Turkey in May and Praia D’el Rey in October are full and the committee is close to finalising destinations for 2024.
I’m delighted to announce that Hawick has become our latest participating club. Hawick was founded in 1877, improved by James Braid in 1901 and is the oldest club in the Borders.
We haven’t had a Scottish course on our list for quite some time so I’m looking forward to that meeting already. If you are going to the Goswick meeting in June, you might consider adding a day or so to visit our newest club.
There is another new facility on the website. Anyone wishing to join the Society can apply directly online. They no longer need to download an application form and send it to Brian. If you have any of the old forms, you can dispose of them.
The next step is to automate the meetings entry, which we hope to be able to do for next year. That means you won’t need to write out all those cheques in future but that option will remain for at least one year.
Lastly, we are always looking to welcome new members, so if there are people at your club you think would enjoy our meetings and tours, don’t forget to invite them to join. Even better if you can invite people from another club where maybe we don’t have members at the moment.
Thanks to Brian and the committee for all their support over the winter and we all look forward to seeing you at (at least) one of the meetings in 2023.
Regards
Robert Hill (Chairman)
